Sonrisa Farms is a small farm located in the heart of the Rio Grande River Valley of New Mexico.  Just 20 minutes South of Albuquerque, Los Lunas is right in the center of New Mexico and part of the rich culture and heritage of the Southwest.

The focus here at Sonrisa is breeding the most exquisitely beautiful horses in the world.  15 years ago, I laid eyes on my first Straight Egyptian horse and it was love at first sight.  This the
horse I’d been searching for since I read my first Black Stallion novel as a child.  It was the horse that had danced through my dreams.  Myjuel El Jahaara was the first Straight Egyptian to steal my heart.  She became the center of my focus and then very soon followed another addition, Ruala Fa Daalima (aka Fada).   Jahaara and Fada were opposites in color, one being snow white and the other coal black, but together they were the fulfillment of my childhood dreams.  I then set out on a search for what I considered the ideal stallion for them and discovered the amazing Imperial Baarez in his first year at stud.  I was fortunate enough to acquire breedings to Imperial Baarez, Ansata Hejazi, and Ansata Sirius and incorporate them into my small breeding program.
After a few years I decided the next step was to acquire my own stallion and a few additional mares to complete my breeding dreams.  After contacting many farms around the country and searching diligently for several years, I saw a small photo that caught my
eye immediately.  It was in an advertisement from Kehilan Arabians and the colt in this photo was for sale.  After several emails, and a trip to this amazing farm in Texas, I met the most wonderful family, with the most beautiful horses I’d ever seen.  I came home from that trip the new owner of this beautiful colt, Donatello KA and very shortly thereafter my sweet Conntessa KA and her dam KA Naadya and over time several others.  It was during that time that I set out to combine the bloodlines of the horses I had come to admire.  Including, Makhnificent, Imperial Baarez, and several others.
